Matt Gullett
A life between silicon and soul.
Two decades helping organizations understand people in a world shaped by machines.

I am Matt Gullett — a technologist working in market research, a writer, and a father who has spent over two decades helping organizations understand people in a world increasingly shaped by machines.
This project, Between Silicon and Soul, is not a detached report. It is the culmination of my professional work in market research, my experience raising three Gen Z young adults, and my personal reality of living in a multi-generational household that spans Boomers to Gen Alpha.
Analytical and deeply human.
Professional Lens
For more than 20 years, I've worked at the intersection of technology, research, and human behavior. I've led teams of developers and worked with researchers in exploring how identity, agency, and culture are shaped by changing technologies.
I've watched corporations wrestle with generational change, and I've seen firsthand how new tools — from social media to generative AI — are reshaping work, family, and even trust itself.
Personal Lens
Beyond my career, I'm a father, a husband, and a writer with side projects ranging from creative fiction to explorations of history and faith. My household includes not just my children, but also my father, creating a living laboratory of intergenerational connection.
These experiences give me a vantage point that is both analytical and deeply human. I believe the best insights come not just from data, but from the stories and tensions we live each day.
“The best insights come not just from data, but from the stories and tensions we live each day.”
The space between technological change and human meaning.
Track the trends and technologies shaping generations.
Move beyond headlines into the deeper currents reshaping how people live, work, and relate.
Map the real-world intersections.
Work, family, identity, and culture do not move on independent tracks — the most important shifts happen where they cross.
Create a space for ongoing conversation.
What it means to be human in an age of machines is not a question one person answers alone.
Hopeful, but never naïve.
For years, I've carried notebooks, capturing thoughts, questions, and observations. I read voraciously, and now, with modern tools, I can assemble, synthesize, and share these ideas in ways never before possible. This ability to "take my thinking on the road" is one of the most exciting parts of the modern world. It opens the gateway to both amazing opportunities and sobering risks for humanity.
While many fear technology and progress, I remain hopeful. For nearly 80 years, humanity has lived with weapons capable of wiping us out — not because the technology couldn't, but because people, real people, chose restraint. In the same way, I believe we can and will build a bright future. The challenges will be real, but the dialogue must continue.
This project reflects both my hope and my caution: excitement for the breakthroughs ahead, and concern for the human costs that may follow if we fail to keep empathy, community, and purpose at the center.
I don't pretend to have all the answers. My hope is that Between Silicon and Soul becomes a space for dialogue. I welcome you to join the conversation.
